Statement about my work
Banner designed for the Rights and Humanities organization- I came up with a design idea of a chain flowing diagonally through the banner, the links of the chain, symbolized people coming together as one. A mosaic technique was used I used a batik process to prepare the papers and then cut into the shapes to construct the banner. I also produced a range of screen prints combining text drawing and collage I enjoy the layering process that I am incorporating into my work; I was given the task of marketing the event the images I produced were used to promote the event I have enclosed a few of my observational stick and ink drawings; I really enjoyed using this process, as it allows me more freedom to interpret the subject matter this results in a lively drawing style. For my extended project, I am working with the theme of decay and erosion. The images on the collage board show my interpretation of the urban environment in Liverpool. I am especially interested in the derelict buildings and I am inspired by the rich textures and colours, I use lots of different papers and combine drawing and stitching to represent the decay of these buildings Mono-print 2- This image was made in response to the theme of erosion and decay, it is the graveyard at the Anglican cathedral, I wanted to create an image using tonal contrast and give the feel of an old photograph decaying through time. I am interested in the BA (Hons) Interactive arts program, as it will give me the opportunity to take my existing artistic skills further and also build on my interest of working with a diverse range of creative experiences across the spectrum of art and design. In my spare time I like to volunteer in hosting events, ranging from the subject of arts to sports, the role makes me a sociable person with good communication and promotional skills. I have a great interest in helping my community and regularly organize fundraising events; I recently helped to organize a fashion show, which raised money for a local charity. I also enjoy creative writing have had articles published in the college magazine.
